GTC Group, a leading investor and developer operating in the real estate markets of Central and Eastern Europe, has released its 2025 ESG Report, presenting its year-on-year progress in sustainability. In 2025, the company achieved lower direct and indirect CO emissions by 15%, began implementing innovative waste management solutions and reached a major milestone, with 99% of its commercial buildings certified under LEED, BREEAM or DGNB standards, or undergoing recertification.

The latest GTC ESG Report, prepared in accordance with GRI standards, consolidates data from seven CEE markets, covering the company’s initiatives in environmental protection, support for local communities, and the strengthening of governance standards. Across these countries, GTC owned residential portfolio and commercial portfolio of 38 office buildings and 6 shopping centres. 99% certification coverage achieved in Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia, reflects the Group’s consistent approach to improving the sustainability performance, operational efficiency and long-term resilience of its commercial portfolio.

In 2025, one of the year’s most significant achievements was the award of LEED Gold v5 certification to the southern tower of the City Gate complex in Bucharest – the latest and most demanding version of the global building assessment standard. This makes it the first existing property in Romania and only the fourth in Europe to receive this distinction.

Among GTC’s key sustainability achievements in 2025 were a 15% year-on-year decrease in direct and indirect CO2 emissions (Scopes 1, 2 and 3 – tenants) in office and retail portfolio. GTC also decreased the amount of waste generated by 18% compared with 2024 in commercial projects, while 17% of the waste generated was recycled, reflecting the company’s continued focus on resource efficiency and circular economy principles.

Over the reporting period, GTC also began implementing the intelligent WasteTracker system across 12 office buildings in Poland, covering nearly 135,000 sqm of leasable space. The solution enables precise measurement and analysis of waste streams generated by tenants, as well as visualisation of carbon footprint by waste fraction.

Sustainability is not a standalone initiative at GTC – it is embedded in the way we create long-term value. Our ESG efforts help us build stronger relationships with our tenants by delivering workplaces that are efficient, healthy and aligned with their evolving expectations. At the same time, they enhance the long-term resilience and attractiveness of our portfolio, supporting value creation for investors, financing partners and all our stakeholders,” – said Botond Rencz, CEO of GTC Group.

Throughout 2025, GTC actively ran initiatives that reflect its focus on creating healthy, sustainable, and inclusive communities. The company organised dozens of events across its offices and retail properties promoting healthy lifestyles and intergenerational connection – including family picnics, city games, holiday workshops, volleyball festivals, and yoga classes. Tenants and visitors could benefit from free medical check-ups, blood donation drives, and children’s sports activities.

A notable example of GTC’s social engagement is the Safe Space initiative launched at Galeria Jurajska in partnership with the City of Częstochowa and the Jurajskie Centrum Zdrowia Psychicznego "Chcę Inaczej". The project provides a free, anonymous psychological support point for young people, offering access to experienced psychologists in a safe and welcoming environment. As the initiative evolves, it has also expanded to include workshops for parents and caregivers focused on positive communication, non-violent parenting and strengthening family relationships. Safe Space demonstrates how retail destinations can go beyond their commercial role to actively support mental wellbeing, social inclusion and stronger community ties – values that are central to GTC’s approach to community engagement.

The report also includes in-depth insights into GTC’s organisational culture and commitment to equity. In 2025, 57% of GTC’s workforce and nearly half of its managers were women. GTC also promotes age diversity and an inclusive workplace, with employees representing different stages of their careers: 11% of the workforce was under 30 years of age, 68% was between 30 and 50, and 21% was over 50, reflecting the company’s commitment to building a diverse, inclusive and age-balanced workplace.
